Survey before demolition
Confirm the layout, product dimensions, drainage routes, ventilation and electrical zones before removing the old bathroom. Check lead times for the suite, tiles and specialist fittings.
Photograph existing services and inspect for leaks or movement. A design that keeps suitable drainage positions can reduce risk and cost.
Strip-out and first fix
After safe isolation and removal, repair the structure and prepare walls and floors. Plumbing and electrical first-fix work happens before surfaces are closed.
Changes must follow local safety and building requirements. Use appropriately qualified trades for regulated work.
Waterproof before decoration
Showers and wet areas need a compatible waterproofing system, not just water-resistant grout. Follow the full system instructions for corners, joints, penetrations and curing.
A flood or leak test may be appropriate before covering critical work, depending on the system and local practice.
Finish in a controlled sequence
Tiling, grouting, decorating, fixture installation, final connections and sealant each need suitable curing and access. Rushing later stages can damage earlier work.
Complete testing, ventilation checks and a written snagging list before final payment.
